Teaching Strategies
Exit Slips
Que cards or even scrap paper can be used. A question or scenario is given to students to respond to. They are to hand these before leaving the class. This is a great tool to gauge the learning of all students and know where each one is at in their learning and understanding of the material. |

Jigsaw
Students will be divided equally into groups. The number of groups depends on the material being discussed. These groups will be referred to as Home Groups. Each group needs to be labeled, for example A, B, C, etc. Then each person within each home group will be numbered off. Once the home group have discussed/learnt their topic, all 1's will become a new group, all 2's another, etc. These new groups will then inform each other of their topic. This teaching strategy allows for cooperative learning. To each all students accountable, at the beginning let them know that you may ask a specific number to share what they have discussed/learnt in their home group. |
Think/Pair/Share
Students are to take a moment to think about the given scenario/question. Then they are to share their thoughts on the matter with a partner. There are times when there may be groups of three, this isn't a problem. Finally, students are to share their thoughts as a class. |
