Motivation: Fireworks
The teacher can initiate a class discussion on the transformation of energy behind fireworks. This will provide students with a real life application of varios forms of energy that transform from one to the other. Note that the name of energy is according to the force it is related to (frankplusjen, 2011)
Teacher Intervention:
Think-pair-share to identify different forms of energy and order how the transformation of energy happens during fireworks in the video clip. (Kinetic energy --> gravitational potential energy --> shell explodes: chemical potential energy --> heat, light, and sound energy)
What other examples can we think of from our daily lives? (Blenders: electric energy --> kinetic, sound energy, and heat)
